Municipal Court

Welcome to the Sealy Municipal Court home page.  We are here to provide effective, efficient, and impartial service to all who participate in the local municipal court system.  It is important that you understand it may take up to (3) business days for the court to receive your citation.  During this time, staff will not be able to assist you.  Please allow three (3) business days before contacting the court.  Most of the questions you have may be answered on this site or the courtesy handout the officer provided you with.  If you have misplaced the Courtesy Handout Rev. 8.10.2021 which was provided to you, one may be obtained by clicking the previous link.  If you are not able to get your question answered here, please feel free to contact the court directly and one of our clerks will assist you.

Please Note: During the course of your traffic stop, the officer collected your telephone information for court purposes.  This number may be used to provide you with a courtesy phone call and or text message.  (ie. reminder of appearance date, reminder of payment due to avoid a capias pro fine warrant for non-payment, notice prior to an arrest warrant being issued for failure to appear, etc.)  It is important to notify the court of any contact information changes in order to keep your record up to date.  You may email a clerk listed below with the update at any time.  If you would like to opt out of future courtesy calls, please contact the court at 979-885-6733 or call 1-855-502-7867.  Thank you.

COVID-19 Protocol

The Municipal Court lobby is open to the public.  We recognize the need to ensure the health and safety of those who visit the court.  To accomplish this, we will be practicing social distancing and allowing only ONE PERSON at a time in our small lobby.  The use of face coverings is REQUIRED, not optional to enter the lobby or courtroom.  If you do not have one, one will be provided for you.  Best hygiene protocols are enforced.  You will be provided hand sanitizer for you to use upon entering and exiting.  Staff will disinfect surfaces throughout the day for your safety.   The court requires that you NOT appear in person if you are experiencing any flu like symptoms or have come in contact with someone that has COVID-19 within the previous 10 days.  You must contact the court to make other arrangements prior to your court date.  Please note that if you do not wish to comply with the court's minimum health standards protocols, you are welcome to take care of your business via mail or E-mail correspondence.

All Juvenile, Show Cause, Pre-Trial, Attorney, Jury, or Bench court dockets scheduled will be held via Zoom.  Court setting notices with date, time, and instructions to connect to the Zoom docket will be provided.  You may contact the court if we do not have your current address.  Failure to appear for these hearings will constitute a failure to appear.  If you do not have internet access or data available, call the court immediately.

NEW CITATIONS FILED with an on or before appearance date on the citation may appear in person, via mail, fax 979-885-4784, or E-mail post marked or sent by the appearance date stipulated on your citation.  You must appear or contact the court to make arrangements for your outstanding violation.  If the court does not hear from you, the case will progress to the next level.

If you require time to pay your fine, you may make payment arrangements with the court.  The judge requires that a down payment be made, so be prepared to do so when you come to court. Any case that is not paid in full within 30 days of the judgment date will have a $25.00 (violations 12-31-2019 or before) or $15.00 (violations 1-1-2020 and after) state mandated time payment reimbursement fee added to it.

DRIVER SAFETY COURSE requests can be filed timely in person or via mail with money order or cashier check to P O Box 517, Sealy, TX  77474.  DO NOT pay the citation.  You may visit the related link above for further instructions on making the request.

COMPLIANCE DISMISSALS can be filed in person, via mail, fax 979-885-4784, or email post marked or sent by their appearance due date.  Please note that the late registration penalty fee must be paid to the Tax Accessor upon renewal of your expired registration.  You must disclose you received a citation while registration was expired. Receipts without the itemized late penalty fee will not be processed for dismissal.  The fine will be due.

Update: April 27, 2021

Is your vehicle registration expired? Please see this chart of vehicle registration and inspection deadlines for important information. All expired registrations must be renewed immediately.

IMPORTANT:  The Temporary Waiver of Vehicle Title & Registration Requirements Ended April 14, 2021. Proof of expired registration renewals are due.  Reminder:  Before renewing registration, you will need to obtain a passing vehicle inspection at the state vehicle inspection station of your choice, unless your vehicle is exempt from inspection requirements.

Three ways to renew your vehicle registration:

  1. Visit or This is the quickest and least expensive way to renew. Save $1 if you renew online. Online renewal is available up to nine months past your registration expiration date.
  2. Mail: Return the bottom portion of your registration renewal form, payment and other required information to your county tax assessor-collector.
  3. In Person: Visit the office of your county tax assessor-collector. In many counties, in-person renewal is also available at other locations, such as certain grocery stores. Contact your county tax office to check hours and locations.

NOTE:  The waiver on expiration dates for DL and ID cards ended on April 14, 2021. DPS encourages customers who need to renew to schedule an appointment at their local driver license office online.

If your driver license has expired, and your scheduled appointment is on or after April 15, 2021, you may request a temporary license to operate a motor vehicle until your appointment date*.  In order for your request to be processed, your request will need to be submitted through our Contact Us page.  When submitting your request, please complete all of the requested fields and include the following information in the Questions section of the form:

  • Date of your appointment
  • State that you are requesting a Temporary License (requests that do not reference this will not be processed)

*If you have an appointment scheduled on or before April 14, 2021 you are not eligible to obtain a temporary license.

EXISTING PAYMENT PLANS can make their scheduled payments in person, by mail, online by visiting Traffic Payments or by calling 1-800-444-1187.

If you do not wish to pay online by credit or debit card, you may always mail in your payment with a Money Order or Cashier's Check.  You will make it out to Sealy Municipal Court and need to note your citation number on the face of the money order or cashier's check.  We DO NOT accept personal or company checks.  Do not mail one in because it will be returned.   This may delay filing and affect your options.  All payments must be mailed on or before the appearance date on your citation to be processed.

Please note that if you are unable to pay the costs, fine, and fees in full, you may request a payment plan or request to perform community service in order to discharge the full amount of costs, fine, and fees.  Print, fill out, mail, or E-mail in the completed Payment Plan Application for processing.  Note that you are requesting community service in the comments section of the completed application.

Driver Responsibility Program (DRP): Repealed effective 9-1-19

The  Driver Responsibility Program (DRP) has been repealed.  Effective 9-1-19, all DRP surcharge suspensions will end.  The Department of Public Safety (DPS) will no longer assess DRP points for moving violations.  Any previously assessed points have been removed from your record.   All surcharge assessments will be waived and no future surcharges will be assessed.  You will still be responsible for any other suspensions, fines or fees on your driver record, including non-surcharge related suspensions, fines, or fees.

It is important to note that Failure to Appear is NOT related to surcharges.  Under the Failure to Appear/Failure to Pay Program, the Department may deny the renewal of a driver license if you have failed to appear for a citation or failed to satisfy a judgment ordering the payment of a fine.  Your driver license may be denied renewal until the reported citations or violations are cleared and reported by the court to the Department.

Failure to Appear:
