Municipal Court

The Sealy Municipal Court provides effective, efficient, and impartial service to all who participate in the local municipal court system. Please allow three (3) business days from the date of your citation before contacting the court. This waiting period is necessary since your citation must be filed with the court before we will be able to assist you.  Most of the questions you have may be answered on this site or the courtesy handout the officer provided you with.  If you have misplaced the Courtesy Handout the officer gave you, you may obtain one by clicking the link.

Please Note: During the course of your traffic stop, the officer collected your telephone information for court purposes.  This number may be used to provide you with a courtesy phone call and or text message.  (ie. reminder of appearance date, reminder of payment due to avoid a capias pro fine warrant for non-payment, notice prior to an arrest warrant being issued for failure to appear, etc.)  It is important to notify the court of any contact information changes so we may keep your record up to date.  You may email a clerk listed below with the update.

If you would like to opt out of future courtesy calls, please contact the court at 979-885-6733 or call 1-855-502-7867.  Thank you.

Driver Responsibility Program (DRP):

The  Driver Responsibility Program (DRP) established a system that authorizes the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to assess surcharges to an individual based on certain traffic offenses that have occurred on or after September 1, 2003.  Individuals are notified by mail each time a surcharge is added to their driver record.  Surcharges are in addition to other fees and do not replace a suspension, revocation, denial, disqualification or cancellation resulting from the same conviction.

This program was developed to encourage safe driving habits.  It requires DPS to assess surcharges to individuals based on certain traffic offenses. These surcharges are assessed in two ways: a point system and conviction based.

  • Points are assessed for Texas or out-of-state moving violation convictions: 2 points for a conviction, and 3 points for a conviction that resulted in a crash.  Individuals are assessed a point surcharge annually if they have 6 or more points on their driver record.  For each consecutive 12 month period that an individual does not receive any points for a moving violation, one point will be deducted from the individual's total points.

  • A conviction based surcharge is a result of being convicted of any of he following; Driving While Intoxicated, No Driver License, Driving While License Invalid, and No Insurance.  Points are not assessed for these offenses.  A conviction based surcharge will be assessed annually for 3 years from the date of conviction.  An individual also has the option to pay all 3 years at once.

DPS offers programs that may reduce or waive surcharges.  For more information about DRP, along with details on available surcharge discounts and other surcharge assistance programs, please visit:  https://www.dps.texas.gov/driverlicense/drp.htm
