Department Mission
The Planning and Community Development Department is responsible for all permitting, inspections, plan review, plat review, land development and long range planning for the City of Sealy. Subdivision plats, site plan review, permit issuance, code enforcement, GIS mapping and Comprehensive Planning are examples of the the activities conducted daily by the Planning and Community Development Department.
Purpose
The purpose of this webpage is provide quick and easy access to a wide variety of materials that would be useful to persons interested in completing a development project in Sealy or interest in the long range plans of the City of Sealy. To simplify your navigation through these materials, the webpage is divided in the following content areas.
2015 Sealy Comprehensive Plan
On July 28, 2015, the City of Sealy completed the process of updating the 2009 Comprehensive Plan by adopting the 2015 Sealy Comprehensive Plan. The purpose of the Comprehensive Plan is to provide a guide for the future development and growth of Sealy.  
Current Events
The Department is working on the following items:
        
  1. Creating and updating GIS Maps of the City of Sealy Gas Utility for public health and safety considerations and to prepare the Texas Railroad Commission review of the utility.
  2. In February 2015, the department reapplied to Scenic City to request that the Sealy be reevaluated and recertified in the Scenic City program. The city is currently Bronze level in this program, but since 2011 the City Council has completed several projects and adopted new development regulations to maintain and enhance the appearance of Sealy. Since most of those actions are consistent with Scenic City program philosophies, the City was awarded Gold Level status on July 14, 2015.  The City of Sealy will be formally recognized for this accomplishment on September 24, 2015 in San Antonio.
